Behind the
scenes

I attended the technology worship
ministry track. We began in a big group with everyone
attending a worship ministry track. Tim Neufeld led a
discussion on what worship is and how important each
part of a service is to that whole experience.
There are three types of people in
a worship service. There are the directors, the actors
and the audience. The directors are the worship leaders
directing the congregation (the actors) to perform for
an audience of one, God.
Every aspect of the worship
service is important to create a beautiful atmosphere
for worshipping the Lord. This is so important because
we all love to worship. We all have to worship, young
and old, rich and poor, all races and all religions. We
were made to worship. As a person involved in worship
services, our task is to help direct the worship to God.
Some worship money, their job, sports, family, friends,
music or endless other things. We are all worshipping
something! Satan wants so badly to direct our attention
from God.
When we broke into smaller groups
we talked about the significance of our part. In
technology we discussed ways that media and technology
can help and ways that it can be distracting. The goal
of media in worship ought to be drawing people in and
aiding in worship. It becomes a hindrance when we move
towards getting praise for our gift instead of drawing
people to flow from one part of the service to the next.
Sometimes it can be difficult to
always be behind the scenes and never get recognized.
But the technical work is very important to the service.
Using our passions and talents behind the scenes and
helping others worship will be rewarded someday in
heaven.
Worship is life. It’s not about
choosing to worship but rather choosing who or what you
will worship. The biggest thing I’ll take home will be
the encouragement to be behind the scenes and
remembering that things gone unseen on this earth will
be rewarded in heaven.
