Drama in church
Zach Buller
Junior
Memorial Road MB Church, Edmond, Okla.

Because I have always enjoyed acting, I chose the drama ministry track. Our leader was Dave, who has a degree in drama and has started a drama ministry in his church. He emphasized that drama can make the Word jump out at us and help people relate to the Bible.

We split into groups and developed skits to teach the parables. The group I was in was given the story of the prodigal son. We changed the setting to modern day and incorporated celebrities into the story. I would have liked it if the ministry track had given us lots more acting opportunities.

One of the things we talked about that surprised me is that many churches do not have drama departments. I learned that drama is important because it helps people have a deeper understanding of Scripture and I think this is one area in which I can better serve my church.
