Church that moves
Abby Faul
Harvey (ND) MB Church
After the Anaheim convention
several groups drove down to Ensenada, Mexico. I have to
tell you, we weren’t very excited about the prospect of
having to sleep on the floor or only getting one shower
in five days. But once we met the people and got to know
them, those things didn’t matter anymore.
The people that we interacted with
were so hospitable to us. They cooked breakfast, lunch
and dinner for almost two-dozen people, shared their
home with a dozen teenagers and were just in general
very benevolent towards us. One night they held their
usual church service and we had a chance to meet a lot
of the people from the church.
They started the service by
singing songs that lasted about 30 minutes each. People
were dancing, clapping and moving around and raising
their hands to God. It was really moving. When there was
a really fast song, one of the children grabbed my hand
and we all started running around the room in one long
human chain. All the children joined and even some of
the adults too! I had never seen a whole church so
excited about God.
This whole trip was definitely
very eye opening. If I’ve learned one thing from this
entire experience, it’s to never let what someone might
think of me stop me from worshiping God.
