2012 Christian Leader Feature Department

(Updated Jan. 2012)

The CL feature department is where faith intersects with daily life. We are looking for articles that target general and specific interests of readers in all stages of life, encourage discipleship and address contemporary issues of faith and life. Our most recent Readership Survey (2009) shows that our readers have a wide-range of interests, and so we welcome proposals on any of the topics listed below.

Healthy families and marriages
Family issues were the highest ranked feature topic in the 2009 CL Readership Survey among respondents of all ages. Articles on parenting children, teens and young adults; blended family issues; marriage; caring for aging parents; living as a single adult, etc.

Church life
CL readers describe themselves as involved in local church leadership or in local church ministry, so it’s not surprising that articles about “church life” rank high in the 2009 CL Readership Survey. We welcome article proposals about worship, preaching, programs, outreach, trends, etc. One area of specific interest is the house church/simple church movement.

Social issues
Readers, particularly those under 40 years of age, are very interested in topics like homelessness, poverty, abortion, domestic abuse, additions, immigration, racism and other social issues. Please submit your article ideas in this area.

Biblical exposition
We are looking for articles that offer a biblical or theological treatment of a doctrine or Scriptural passage. The presentation/argument should be clear and ideas should be effectively presented.

Other topics we are interested in receiving articles about…

Culture: social networking, role of sports & entertainment

Finances/stewardship: budgeting, tightening your belt in tough times, coping with job loss, giving to church when unemployed or under-funded, teaching children and teens about financial issues, etc.

Faith in the workplace: ethics, my work as God’s calling, etc.
