Church Planting
Trailhead Church in Centennial, Colo.
 Jeff and Lianne Nikkel are
the lead pastoral couple for this new Mennonite Brethren
church plant in the Denver metroplex. The Nikkels began
working August 1 with this Southern District
Conference/Mission USA partnership church plant in
Centennial, Colo. Jeff, who has served as pastor of youth
and adult discipleship at Belleview Community Church for the
past five years, is very gifted in evangelism, teaching and
group building. Jeff and Lianne have a desire to launch a
new church that is biblically authentic and allows people to
use their spiritual gifts in the life of the church. They
have three children, Garrett (11), Alison (9) and Ashley
(6).
 Gary and Melanie Aronhalt are also working part-time on
the pastoral staff of this plant. Gary, a gifted worship
leader, provides a wealth of worship leading experience.

UPDATE
Trailhead Church just keeps growing! Trailhead had a
wonderful Launch Sunday January 14th even though it snowed
and many people could not attend.
Church plant pastor Jeff Nikkel writes at
the end of January: “Despite the crummy weather out here
(six snows in six weeks, usually on the weekends) we're
doing really well: I'm having a lot of fun preaching, we're
hearing stories of how God is working in peoples' lives,
people seem to be taking ownership of our mission and
vision, last Sunday we probably had close to 80 people and
financially things couldn't be going much better. It's not
that we don't have our issues, but God has been so faithful,
and overall I'm really pleased.”
Trailhead Church is meeting in a large
room used for pre-school during the week at the Goodson
Recreation Center in Centennial, a southern suburb of
Denver. Their meeting room has lots of large windows, and as
Trailhead holds worship on Sunday mornings people coming to
the recreation center to exercise show a lot of curiosity
about what is going on as they peer in. That has provided
some good contacts.
Trailhead Church has a ministry geared
toward reaching out to and serving in the community. They
have already been involved in several community projects and
this has resulted in many positive connections. Sometimes
people ask them with admiration, “Who are you guys and why
are you serving us?”
