Church Planting

Christ Community Church in Sioux Falls, SD

Christ Community Church in Sioux Falls, SD, has a plan for getting started that is a little bit different from other church plants. In December, the core group of 40-50 dedicated people held two “practice” worship services at the Discovery School gymnasium, located on the recently-developed west side of Sioux Falls and where they will continue to meet. These services helped the group learn how to prepare for a myriad of things such as setting up and tearing down the equipment, projecting the words for worship songs, setting the sound within a large gym and most of all, beginning to build community.

Sunday, January 7, the group held their first “preview” service. These weekly Sunday services are intended to build excitement and momentum that will lead to “Launch Sunday” on Palm Sunday, April 1. Typically, a church plant first develops the core group and then proceeds directly to launch. But pastor Rod Anderson sees the value of building slowly toward the “peak” of the launch Sunday. It’s practice, preview, launch!

Church plant couple Rod and Donna Anderson love people. They love to laugh and love to view life from a happy perspective. They love the un-churched and have a passionate desire to reach them with the Good News. The Andersons have an energetic attitude that carries over to those around them.

This church plant is being subsidized through a partnership between Mission USA and the Central District Conference.
