While diverse in ministry style, ethnicity, and language, the PDC churches cooperate together in a unified MISSION to accomplish more together than we could individually. The Pacific District Conference gives leadership to the pursuit of Church Planting, Church Health, and Leadership Development in the western United States. The PDC’s goal is to glorify God by honoring and fulfilling the command of Jesus to go and make disciples. Their vision is to see more healthy churches reaching out – touching our world for Christ. The promise of Jesus is that he will build his Church and itis the Pacific District’s desire is to partner with him in that work.
The Pacific District Conference Board of Leadership Development exists to inspire and challenge emerging and existing church leaders by providing opportunities for gifts to be tested, skills to be developed, character to be strengthened and competence to be increased.
As one way to accomplish this goal, the Board is again offering summer internship opportunities in a local Mennonite Brethren Church. These full-time, 3-month long internships are designed for 19-25 year olds to learn and grow in ministry areas such as Children’s, Youth, Music, Preaching/Teaching, and Administrative ministries. These are paid internships, with plenty of accountability and support built into the program.
We are convinced that Christ-honoring, Biblically founded, prayerful, missional congregations are the hope of the world. We are also convinced that established congregations can experience renewal and improved health, making a significant impact for Christ. The Pacific District Conference has gone on record to say we will provide support, encouragement, and assistance to our established congregations. Resources available to District Churches include:
- Congregational Assessment opportunities for both leadership and congregation
- Conflict resolution and mediation assistance
- Networking and encouragement opportunities for pastors
- Healthy Church Consultation
- Pastoral counsel and guidance through the change process
- Church Board seminars/retreats
